Two concerns here.
1.The missile was aimed at the US and failed to reach its target. Did it run out of fuel – oil prices are rising.
Was it aimed without due care? Has someone been sacked?
Would it matter if it had hit its target? Would the target have noticed?
2. Has someone crossed Trident missiles with homing pigeons so that they all fly home, westwards, back across the pond?
Remember, during the first Gulf War, a US aircraft destroyed a British tank. The Americans apologised and said that all US personnel in the region would be trained to recognise the flag of their oldest ally, the UK. What they had forgotten was the Union Jack was the national flag of their oldest enemy; it was the flag carried by British forces when they burnt down the White House in 1812.
