On The Times letters page earlier this week two letters were printed side by side without, it would seem, anyone noticing that the question posed in the first provided an answer to the question in the second letter.
First there was a reminder that schools inspectors have not inspected schools since March 17th with a suggestion that they resume useful employment forthwith. Then to one side there was a call for an army of tutors to help poorer pupils to catch up. What an opportunity for the inspectors to show how capable they are, teaching in what will no doubt be demanding circumstances. Will they take it?
