Bigger cars – Bigger egos?

In its comments on car sales in 2019 the Institute of Advanced Motorists reports that only SUVs and sports cars were sold in greater numbers in a market where total numbers sold have declined for the third consecutive year. With overcrowding on our roads and in our towns why are larger and faster models required? The population has not suddenly increased in size and most cars seem to accommodate only two passengers. Are these cars simply carrying bigger egos?

Perhaps towns that have enjoyed traffic free streets during our coronavirus lock-down will decide to keep things that way.
