Thatcher Legacy – not a free market

No, not a free market but one that is manipulated and contrived. One where the truth about consumer preferences is not allowed to prevail. One in which attempts are made constantly to manipulate the consumer.

Mrs T. beat Arthur Scargill, then president of the NUM, on economic grounds by importing foreign coal and breaking the NUM’s grip on supplies but she failed to beat trade-unionism politically. Had she offered to present the miners with one of the pits they claimed were still viable, if they were willing to take it on, they would have run a mile.
