Prisoners’ perks

Prisoners’ perks

Chris Grayling, Justice Secretary speaks of prisoners having to earn the right to a television set by simply keeping out of trouble.

The rest of us, who provide tv and other perks for prisoners, have to keep out of trouble in order to be able to keep prisoners fed and cared for.

Why not relate sentencing to something positive and laudible, to efforts to make themselves more useful – shedding addictions, getting fit, learning a trade, passing maths and English at GCSE?

Show us that you mean to make yourself useful and we’ll think about releasing you. Otherwise it’s low maintenance.
