We learnt recently that the British Pregnancy Advisory Service has criticised the charity Pause, which sets out to help such women for “undermining the autonomy of a group of women who already have little control over their lives,” by insisting that those women they help use a contraceptive implant. These are women with chaotic and unstable lives whose babies are repeatedly taken into care.
Adults who have little control over their lives would not be allowed to adopt or foster children; why should they expect to inflict themselves as parents on children who come into this world with no control over their lives?
